Today, dems in Congress voted NO on off shore oil drilling. Do they care how much we Americans pay for oil?

The dems on the House Apprpriations sub-Commitee voted unaninmosly against drilling 120-200 miles out to sea. Do they really care about us paying $5.00 a gallon for gas? Do they think we are really stupid and don't know what they decide and who votes for them?Today, dems in Congress voted NO on off shore oil drilling. Do they care how much we Americans pay for oil?
Its all part of their master plan..they actually want the economy in the toilet so when and if they take over they can spend four years saying, ';You see how evil those bad-ole republicans were....they f**)ed the economy even the messiah himself can't help you';.....

The demoncrats are worried more about spotted owls and horny caribou then they are about you and I....because they aren't paying $4.00+++ a gallon for gas...

they haven't allowed a refinery to be built since 1977....jeez doesn't that tell you something about these wackos!!!!!!!Today, dems in Congress voted NO on off shore oil drilling. Do they care how much we Americans pay for oil?
Yes, let's start drilling off shore and everybody'll have oily fish for dinner. It might make you sick or even kill you, but at least there'll be a lot more oil to make more gas which will cause more polution which will kill a lot more people which will destroy much more of the atmosphere and destroy a lot of animals, plants, insects, and finally just about everybody in the world then there won't be anyone to buy the oil for the gas to make more money anyway......
There is an answer but you or I won't know it because we weren't there to examine a bill when it is presented. If a bill isn't written right, even if it would do a good service, it can be voted down. In this case, effects on environment and other factors might have been part of the discussion. My personal opinion is that we do not need to drill for more oil. We need to ween ourselves away from oil use and see the Saudis and other start to cry when we don't need their oil anymore. We've had the technology for more efficient gas burning cars for many many years. Why don't you think we have them now? Powerful forces sold us the gas guzzling cars that we see on the road. Imagine everyone on the US right now with an electric car that is recharged by electricity we make using the hydro electric dams and wind turbins we've installed. Just the other day, I saw a car on the news that gets 150 miles per gallon of gas....

Exactly; if they had wanted to drill or build refineries, they could have (if Bush can invade a country for his own selfish political reasons, then he certainly could have drilled for oil in Alaska). The complaints against environmentalists and Democrats are just straw-man arguments so they can blame something other than their own greed for money and power.

The oil companies are turning record profits while every other business is suffering (how鈥檚 your 401k doing?), the national economy is in the toilet, and the country is drowning in debt. Why is asking them to pay their fair share (as we are all asked to do) a bad thing? After all, they are the very people who, along with Cheney, created America鈥檚 energy policy.
We need to drill! America needs America's OIL! We CAN be energy dependent if they let us. Ask the liberals why they hate my country, and want to take our liberties away. Stop these communists before they grow BIG government to the point where we pay $10 a gallon. There are 1000 ways for them to screw us and they will find every way and more.
The liberal democrats are going to strangle most Americans with their ignorance. Write your Congress man and give them hell. We need new energy resource now and drilling for more oil as well as building new nuclear power stations are the way to go.
They do think were stupid. Did you know America has all the oil we need for 100 years if we started drilling? Enough to power us until we dont need it anymore. Too bad we would rather take the easy road, which hurts in the long run.
It's not that simple, chewy or however you spell your name. Why did the GOP block a tax on the oil company profits yesterday?

It all makes us wonder, huh? Greedy persons will not inherit God's kingdom. (1 Corinthians 6: 9 - 11)
No, they are more interesting in controlling your behavior. They know that the higher the price, the more you'll conserve.

Too bad they're doing nothing about alternatives in the meanwhile.
oil companies only make about 8 cents a gallon the gov. makes over 45 cents. start asking them yo stop taxing so much. at least the oil comp. are doing something to make a profit, the gov. is getting money for doing nothing
Well good for them. Now answer this question. If Rep's wanted the off shore oil drilling why didn't they past it when they had control of congress? Could it be that they don't care about it.
They're darling, Al Gore, has pushed them so far into the legitimizing of environmental lunatics, that they have strangled our countries opportunities to become self-sufficient!
They don't care about the country or us, they only care about power and their hate campaign against Bush.
This is election year BS on both sides of it.

But why would anyone think that drilling new oil wells would have any effect on oil or gasoline prices.

There is very high demand for oil and a somewhat limited supply. All of it is sold in a global market. If you wanted lower prices, you would have told Bush and Cheney not to go to war in Iraq.

Cheney for one promised the war would not only boost the U.S. economy, but result in lower gasoline taxes. Wrong. Big oil has no loyalty to the United States. They just pay people to say they area.

They drilled Alaska and shipped much of the oil to Japan, China and Korea. Didn't lower our prices a bit. Even now, the Kenai LNG facility processes American Natural Gas for shipping to Japan, the world's largest importer of LNG.

NONE of the Republicans from Alaska or anywhere else raised a voice against that. If the price of oil is at $200 next week and we told these people to drill those locations, what would happen.

To begin with, nothing. It wouldn't affect our prices at all. When the oil started to flow what would happen? Unless they are expressly forbidden to do so, the oil companies will ship it where they get the best price. So long as the United States is willng to pay the price, they'll get it.

As it is, Big Oil is just looking for a different game to play. That price at the pump is the blackmail they use with the U.S. government to force them to negotiate OUR property offshore so the profits can be put into Big Oil's pocket.

The only way to reduce the price of oil or gasoline is to flood the market with a very large, easy to produce supply. That's not us. It could be the Russians who are now the world's largest oil producers, somewhat ahead of Saudi Arabia.

We've had two Texas oil guys and front men in the White House, having secret meetings to discuss the energy policy that led to $5 a gallon gas. This is the result not of a failure to drill, but of an administration that didn't know any more about energy than it did Hurricanes named Katrina.

What Most of the stories don't say is that the very same oil companies have very large areas open to them for development that they haven't even used. But somehow they suddenly want more rights.

Anyone who thinks Big Oil is going to do anything to protect this country hasn't been awake since Bush came into office. STOP BLAMING OTHER PEOPLE FOR YOUR REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS DONE. THE HIGH PRICES ARE THE RESULT OF BUSH INTERFERRING WITH SUPPLY AND DEMAND THROUGH WAR.

Vote for whoever you want -- barr, libertarian or whatever --just don't give McBush another four years or they'll finish destroying this country.

But don't forget when Big Oil reports its outrageous profits, that a ton of them are made from U.S. citizens who are paying them to drill OUR oil and sell it back to us as if they made it.
you think the price would go down if we did?

or would oil company profit go to a new record high?

why was this not done in 2002 when gas prices started this mega climb?...oh yea....that would require thought, forsight and reason from republicans....no chance of that
