What is Mccain's position on taxing the oil companies more? The Reps voted NO today but how abt Mccain?

His party, the Republicans, voted AGAINST taxing oil companies more:)

What does Mccain think about this? What is Mccain's position on taxing the oil companies more? The Reps voted NO today but how abt Mccain?
Hopefully he's against it. All higher taxes on the oil companies do is make them raise prices to offset the taxes. In the end the consumer still pays. What is Mccain's position on taxing the oil companies more? The Reps voted NO today but how abt Mccain?
Hopefully he agrees with the republicans. This is a simple supply and demand issue. Oil companies get a lousy 8 cents on the dollar profit. Most companies earn a way higher percentage of profit. Just because demand for oil has skyrocketed, why should they be penalized for making a profit? If the democrats in congress would stop blocking legislation to drill in the U.S. (we have more oil than the Saudi's), we wouldn't be in this situation. There is a simple solution, but the democrats don't want to solve the problem because then they would not be able to blame it on President Bush.

Also, ten years ago when the oil companies were making the exact same 8 percent profit and spending all of it and then some in R %26amp; D no one was complaining that the oil companies were suffering. Now that they are making money it is a crime. Democrats believe it is wrong to make a profit. Vote McCain!
I would hope he would vote against the taxing of the oil

companies and levying hefty fines for price gouging from the top down.....these fines could then be used as loans to small businesses to build their version of refineries under safety

coded restrictions of OSHA...and drilling of our own oil to refine...this will cut down on monopoly and imports..the American way is always better when it is in competition

with other members of the American way! God Bless America!
I hope he voted no. How does it make sense to increase taxes on them because the price of oil is so high? Punish the free market? We need to stop using so damn much. Stay home this summer don't drive hundred's of miles and for god's sake if you can help it don't fly! Wonder what McDonald's profit margin is? If you found out it was almost as big as the oil companies would you want to punish them too? Just because we need oil more than burgers doesn't make oil company profit's evil. Isn't that why they got into the oil business in the first place. Profit? Not to mention the fact that it wont help one little bit.
The only 2 things McCain has for 'Economic Policy'. are tax cuts that go mainly for the wealthy, and tax cuts for Oil companies. As if Bush hadn't already tried it. McCain thinks if you give the oil companies tax cuts, they will put more money into exploration. The fact that none of Bush's tax cuts went in oil exploration doesn't seem to bother McCain!
I would think he's opposed to it, if you raise the taxes on oil companies they will just raise the price of gasoline more. I don't know why the democrats don't get that.

PS if you don't think that is true look at the historical record to see what happened when Jimmy Carter did that very same thing.
people just don't seem to realize that if the oil companies are taxed more on their profits that it will be passed on to the consumers. you will pay those additional taxes...the democrats don't seem to understand that. they are the one who won't allow us to explore and use our own resources to combat this global problem and wean us away from foreign oil. we have ample resources but are not allowed to utilize them.
The corporations are all ready paying tens of millions in taxes annually and who ownes corporations? Regular people do. In trust funds, pensions and investments funds. Then, the individual gets to pay income taxes again. Nice racquet the government has going on........
Republicans voted no because they have connections with the oil people same with McCain and Bush. I am anti republican and I think they are the most corrupt party in the U.S.
McCain is against this as well. The oil companies would simply pass this cost onto the consumers further driving up gas prices.
McCain is not a republican. He votes against his party on all the major issues.
taxing the oil companies will raise gas even more.
I don't know.....I'll give McCain's number so you can call him.
instead of hitting the repeat button read some answer and quit advertising you ignorance of everyday problems
He'll tow the party line.
I cant believe in an election year with gas at 4.50 a gallon the republicans would block this legislation. I assume Mccain follows suit;he';s trying to establish himself with the conservatives and republicans in general.
They better tax them!! They all be takin' money from US!

Obama fa prezz!
